Anna Sellen - Bee Day creative activities
I had a great day on Saturday 21 June running creative activities for adults and children, all themed around bees, outdoors in the Sanctuary Garden Caerbladon has created in Birdcage Walk.
We kicked off with some paper crafting and pebble painting for children straight after breakfast. What a great way to start the day! The pebble bees were very popular, all bright and colourful pink, vivid blue, black and yellow. Thank you to everybody who stopped by and tried their hand at crafting, painting, playing and more.
The afternoon was all about experimenting with the cyanotype process. We used meadow flowers I had collected and other natural forms that the participants brought along with them. It was great to see how creative the group was and their results were stunning. We had to dodge a few rain showers, but the sun came through and we hung the cyanotype prints on a line so they could dry out and be taken home.
The cyanotype workshop was sold out, and there was an appetite for further adventures with cyanotype in the future. It’s always a privilege to be part of someone’s journey when they begin discovering this incredible versatile process.
